Fast Forward 60 Years and AMT is still running strong! The organization brings together community members from Alamogordo, Holloman, Tularosa and Cloudcroft. AMT is committed to creating a voice for diverse artists, to nurturing their unique voices, and to engaging our audiences. The show blends film genre tropes such as science-fiction, Gothic fantasy and horror in a mishmash of styles that pokes fun at the B-movies of the 1950’s. Come to the Flickinger Center this weekend and we can do the Time Warp… AGAIN!
AMT’s fall production of The Rocky Horror Show opened last night to an insane crowd! The cast and audience alike were eating up the magnificent energy that was created by the cult classic.
In the four decades since it debuted, The Rocky Horror Show has become the archetype for fun, marked by weekly or monthly interactive viewings in theatres across the country. For the Rocky “Virgins” out there, these productions usually involve a series of callbacks that audience members shout along with or in response to many of the original show’s scripted lines.
Last night was no different! Supplemented by AMT’s prop bags, that were available for purchase in the lobby, the audience got to be right in the thick of the plot: the story of a young couple – Brad (Daniel Humm) and Janet (Stacy Beaupre) – who end up at the mysterious castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Lee Austin). The night takes many twists and turns, throwing them into a world unlike any they have ever known. Unfortunately for them, this evening out is destined to be one they will never forget!
Tonight, there will be two shows for your enjoyment, a traditional 7PM production for the early birds out there AND A MIDNIGHT SHOW for you true die hard Rocky Horror fans! All seats are twelve dollars and both productions will be at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Pizza Mill and Sub Factory, Books Revisited in the White Sands Mall and at the Flickinger. Follow this link to buy your tickets online from the Flickinger website!
A fast-paced pastiche of camp, science fiction, rock music, horror, and more camp The Rocky Horror Show is a fun adult night out that Alamogordo residents will not soon forget! We will see you tonight!
Are you ready to do the Time Warp again? Well, the Alamogordo Music Theatre is pleased to announce the auditions for their fall musical “The Rocky Horror Show”! After a successful run of the musical “Hairspray”, AMT is following the achievement with the retro sci-fi musical classic!
One fateful night, Brad Majors and his fiancée, Janet Weiss — a wholesome, well-behaved, utterly normal young couple in love — innocently set out to visit an old professor. Unfortunately for them, this night out is destined to be one they will never forget. A thunderstorm and a flat-tire force them to seek help at the castle of Dr. Frank ’N’ Furter, a scientist with a manic genius and insatiable libido. Brad, Janet, and Frank’ N’ Furter’s cohorts are swept up into the scientist’s latest experiment. The night’s misadventures will cause Brad and Janet to question everything they’ve known about themselves, each other, love, and lust. A loving homage to the classic B sci-fi film and horror genres with an irresistible rock’n’roll score, The Rocky Horror Show is a hilarious, wild ride that no audience will soon forget.
Auditions will be held at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts on August 22nd and 24th at 6:00PM. Please anticipate to sing a song that showcases your vocal abilities. Only those with prepared music will be considered for major roles. You will also need to read a short selection from the show that will be provided by the casting committee. You can access a list roles and ranges here.
Please remember, this is a live stage production of Rocky Horror, not a movie sing-a-long. Though aspects of the movie “Rocky Horror Picture Show” will be included in the production, the people cast in the show will be doing a completely live theatrical creation.
We look forward to seeing you at the Flickinger for another amazing AMT show!
