AUDITIONS ON OUR MINDS

Start your new year off right with an Audition Clinic with the Alamogordo Music Theatre!

AMT is putting together an Audition Clinic for all ages on January 5th at the Flickinger Center. The clinic starts at 1PM and is free to the public.

The clinic gives Alamogordo and area residents insight into how people are chosen for roles, what to expect on the day of auditions, and how to make the most of their 90 seconds on stage. AMT president Jeremy Patton encourages all actors, even those not auditioning for any current shows to take part in this clinic. “It’s a valuable learning opportunity for all!”

Hot on the heels of the audition clinic, we will be hosting the auditions for Mary Poppins, also at the Flickinger Center. Audition dates will be January 8th and 10th at 6:30 PM. For a list of roles and ranges for Mary Poppins, click here!

So much happening in 2019! Come be a part of it all!

SHREK CLOSES… ADDAMS FAMILY SET IN MOTION!

After an amazing blockbuster weekend with SHREK THE MUSICAL, the Alamogordo Music Theater is embarking on casting for it’s fall production “THE ADDAMS FAMILY”. We are only a week away from auditions! Who knows, maybe YOU will become one of the creepy and the kooky, mysterious and spooky, become all together ooky… part of the The Addams Family!

AMT will be conducting auditions for the musical on August 22 & 23 at 6:30 PM at the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts.  Those auditioning should come prepared to sing a short selection  of their choosing and do cold readings from the script. Please limit your song to only 60 Seconds. This will help expedite the audition process.

Singing auditions must be done to musical accompaniment. (No a capella auditions, please.)

(For helpful hints on auditioning, click here).

PLEASE HAVE A BACKING (karaoke) TRACK PREPARED TO ACCOMPANY YOUR AUDITION. There will not be an accompanist.

Auditions are open to anyone who wishes to take part.  None of the roles have been pre-cast. Unfortunately, their are no roles for children.

Performance dates are November 2, 3, 4, 9 & 10.  For further information about the show and roles, click here!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

SHREK THE MUSICAL OPENS THIS WEEKEND!

On Friday, August 3rd, the doors to the Flickinger Center will open for SHREK THE MUSICAL! Tickets for all seats are $12. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at the Flickinger Center website. There are over 50 wonderfully talented people in the cast, orchestra and crew, all from the Alamogordo, Holloman, Cloudcroft and Tularosa communities.

SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film that started it all. This live adaptation brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to the stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey that does not keep quiet, a villain with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek.

SHREK THE MUSICAL performances are August 3, 4, 10 & 11 at 7PM. There will be a 2PM Matinee on August 5. All performances are at the Flickinger Center.

SHREK AUDITIONS DRAW NEAR!

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Full of all-new songs and great dancing , SHREK, THE MUSICAL is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

Auditions for the show will be April 30th and May 3rd at 6:30 PM at the Flickinger Center! All roles are open to audition. We are seeking an adult ensemble of 20-30 performers for this high-spirited production. There are five principal roles available (three men / two women) as well as numerous featured supporting roles and a large singing, dancing ensemble. A limited amount of roles will be available for children as well.

WORKING HARD ON ROCKY HORROR

The Alamogordo Music Theatre has recently begun rehearsals for The Rocky Horror Show!  Rocky Horror originally opened in London theaters in 1973. The story was then made into The Rocky Horror Picture Show movie in 1975 and burst into a cult phenomenon.

For those unfamiliar with Rocky Horror, the performance tells a story of a young couple – Brad (Daniel Humm) and Janet (Stacy Beaupre) – who end up at the mysterious castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Lee Austin).  The night takes many twists and turns, throwing them into a world unlike any they have ever known. Unfortunately for them, this evening out is destined to be one they will never forget.

The show blends film genre tropes such as science-fiction, Gothic fantasy and horror in a mishmash of styles that pokes fun at the B-movies of the 1950’s. In addition, the production boasts a great rock and roll score with songs like “Science Fiction, Double Feature”, “Damn it, Janet” and the iconic piece “The Time Warp”. Unlike the popular midnight movie sing-a-longs, this is a live stage production of Rocky Horror. The people who have been cast in the show will be doing a completely live theatrical creation.

Dates for the AMT production of The Rocky Horror Show are November 3, 4, 10, 11 at 7 PM. There will be an additional special midnight show at 11:59 PM the evening of November 4th. All performances will be at the Flickinger Center.

DAMN YANKEES OPENS THIS FRIDAY!

All the weeks of hard work have paid off and Damn Yankees is finally opening at the Flickinger Center this Friday, April 21st!

With music by Richard Adler and lyrics by Jerry Ross, Damn Yankees is based on the book by George Abbott and Douglas Wallop about a middle-aged baseball fanatic who trades his soul to the devil for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees.

As he wows the world transforming the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, Joe begins to realize the real worth of the life he’s left behind. Colorful characters, smashing dance numbers and songs, including “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets),” “You Gotta Have Heart” and “Those Were the Good Old Days,” are show highlights. Boasting more than 1,000 performances on Broadway, a successful film version and a popular Broadway revival, Damn Yankees has won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Light, fast-paced and devilishly clever, Damn Yankees promises to start off Alamogordo Music Theatre’s 2017 Season with a home run

Tickets are available at the Flickinger Center or from any cast member. All seats are $12 dollars. Show times include April 21, 22, 28 & 29 at 7PM and April 23 at 2PM.
