After an amazing weekend celebrating with “Stage and Screen: 60 Years of AMT”, the Alamogordo Music Theater is forging ahead with the Auditions for it’s summer Production “SHREK: THE MUSICAL”. We are only a week away from auditioning for those who will be taking that trip to FAR FAR AWAY…
AMT will be conducting auditions for the musical on April 30 and May 3rd at 6:30 PM at the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing a short selection of their choosing and do cold readings from the script. Please limit your song to only 60 Seconds. This will help expedite the audition process.
Singing auditions must be done to musical accompaniment. (No a capella auditions, please.)
(For helpful hints on auditioning, click here).
PLEASE HAVE A BACKING (karaoke) TRACK PREPARED TO ACCOMPANY YOUR AUDITION. There will not be an accompanist.
Auditions are open to anyone who wishes to take part. None of the roles have been pre-cast. There are a limited amount of roles for children.
Performance dates are August 3, 4, 5, 10 & 11. For further information about the show and roles, click here!
We look forward to seeing you soon!

With the solicitation of $10 donations from people and businesses, AMT raised the money to pay the rent and royalties on our first show, Guys and Dolls, in August 1958. Along with this effort, there were more excited people working with sets, costumes and music…
Fast Forward 60 Years and AMT is still running strong! The organization brings together community members from Alamogordo, Holloman, Tularosa and Cloudcroft. AMT is committed to creating a voice for diverse artists, to nurturing their unique voices, and to engaging our audiences. In addition, the proceeds from AMT shows go to area students who are pursuing collegiate studies in the arts.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.
Full of all-new songs and great dancing , SHREK, THE MUSICAL is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!
Auditions for the show will be April 30th and May 3rd at 6:30 PM at the Flickinger Center! All roles are open to audition. We are seeking an adult ensemble of 20-30 performers for this high-spirited production. After playing to three different raucous crowds last weekend, the Alamogordo Music Theatre’s cast of the Rocky Horror Show is reinvigorated for this, their final weekend!
This Friday and Saturday, November 10 & 11, AMT will continue to captivate the crowds of the die hard Rocky Horror Show fans out there in Alamogordo as well as those new to the Rocky experience! The audiences can enjoy the crowd participation that is correlated to the Rocky Horror mystique, engaging in this wholly live stage production. Prop bags will be available for purchase in the Flickinger lobby to immerse people further into the spectacle!
The show blends film genre tropes such as science-fiction, Gothic fantasy and horror in a mishmash of styles that pokes fun at the B-movies of the 1950’s. The production boasts a great rock and roll score with songs like “Science Fiction, Double Feature”, “Damn it, Janet” and the iconic piece “The Time Warp”.
Don’t wait to purchase your tickets! All seats are twelve dollars and the productions will be at the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Pizza Mill and Sub Factory, Books Revisited in the White Sands Mall and at the Flickinger.
