AMT’s FIDDLER ON THE ROOF OPENS TONIGHT!

Tonight is the night! After a lengthy rehearsal process, Alamogordo Music Theater is pleased to announce the opening of it’s summer production of “Fiddler on the Roof”! The show features many local performers, including Loren Jackson as Tevye the milkman and Dax Bash as the fiddler (seen above).

Fiddler on the Roof is about Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon the family’s lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love – each one’s choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of his faith – and with the pressures of the Tsar infringing upon their village.

Production dates for the show are July 31 August 1, 7 and 8 at 7 PM. August 2 there will be a 2 PM matinee. All seats are $10 at the Flickinger center.

Come out and enjoy an evening of great entertainment! Remember, every ticket sold helps us raise scholarship money for local students pursuing an education in the arts! See you there!

Tevye and His Daughters

IMG_4234“Five Daughters!” he exclaims. What’s a poor milk man to do with five daughters? Well in the case of Tevye, the protagonist of “Fiddler on the Roof”, he loves and cares for them very much. Even when each of his eldest daughters, Tzeitel, Hodel and Chava, tests his faith and traditions, he thoughtfully examines his beliefs against the love for his children.

Playing Tevye is AMT veteran Loren Jackson (seen above). Playing his daughters are Ginny Gendron (Tzeitel), Kasi Bryant (Hodel), Jennifer Rosengrant (Chava), Brooke Casarez (Shprintze) and Marley Ham (Bielke).

AMT’s production opens this week at the Flickinger Center. Performances are July 31, August 1, 2, 7 & 8. All tickets are ten dollars.
