1cf105ba6cf1209fa57149cb97164c90The Alamogordo Music Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of the their spring musical “Into the Woods”! After several months of rehearsal the production begins tonight at the Flickinger Center of Performing Arts.

One of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular shows, “Into the Woods” intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The show covers multiple themes: growing up, parents and children, accepting responsibility, morality, and finally, wish-fulfillment and its consequences. The characters include Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella, as well as many others. The musical is tied together by an original story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, their interaction with a Witch who has placed a curse on them, and their instances with other storybook characters during their journey.

“Into the Woods” will have performances at the Flickinger Center on April 10, 11, 17 & 18 at 7PM and a matinee on April 12 at 2PM. All tickets are $10 and are available at Alamo Optical, Books Revisited and at the Flickinger Center.

Amazing talent and great local theater… Catch a show this weekend!
