AMT is excited about the upcoming auditions for its Summer 2015 Musical: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF!

To get everyone prepped for the MAY auditions, we have posted the complete character information for each role and the ranges respectively. CLICK HERE for all the details!

Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, “Fiddler on the Roof” is based on the story of Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman and Other Tales) by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one’s choice of husband moves further away from the customs of her faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. The show features popular theater classics like “Matchmaker, Matchmaker”, “If I were a Rich Man” & “Sunrise, Sunset”.

Auditions will May 4th and 7th for adults aged 15 and older. Children age 8-14 years can audition May 6th. All auditions begin at 6:30 at the Flickinger Center. If you are an actor or musician (orchestra) please come down and fill out an audition sheet. If you want to assist with crew, set work, costumes or lighting please join us as well! Don’t miss out, join in on the fun of an AMT show!

One of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular shows, “Into the Woods” intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The characters include Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Cinderella, as well as many others. The musical is tied together by an original story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, their interaction with a Witch who has placed a curse on them, and their instances with other storybook characters during their journey.

Little Red Riding Hood was last seen going “Into the Woods” shortly after visiting the Baker and his Wife. The couple stated that she was going to Grandmother’s House, a lovely cottage standing underneath three large oak trees. The couple further affirmed that the little girl was certain of her way; that the cottage was “down the dell, the path is straight, I know it well”. The Baker’s Wife was quoted as saying “She had quite a load of food in her basket; breads, sticky buns and pies. I just hope no wolves come her way”.

If you wish to help with the search, come see “Into the Woods” April 10, 11, 17 & 18 at 7PM or April 12 at 2PM at the Flickinger Center. Tickets are ten dollars and can be purchased at Alamo Optical, Books Revisited and the Flickinger Center.
