Well after much deliberation, the AMT board is pleased to announce the next shows that it will be producing in 2015! We are pleased to announce two shows, one for the spring and one for summer of 2015 Let’s take a look…
“Into the Woods” (spring 2015): An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch … who raps? They’re all among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell. Along their journey they encounter Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Rapunzel and Jack (of beanstalk fame). “Into the Woods” is a lively irreverent fantasy that teaches a moving lesson about community, responsibility and the tales we tell our children. (Production dates: April 10, 11, 12, 17, 18)
“Fiddler on the Roof” (summer 2015): Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, “Fiddler on the Roof” is based on the story of Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman and Other Tales) by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each one’s choice of husband moves further away from the customs of her faith—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. The show features popular theater classics like “Matchmaker, Matchmaker”, “If I were a Rich Man” & “Sunrise, Sunset”. (Production dates: July 31, August 1, 2, 7, 8)
2015 is going to be an exciting season! We are looking forward to a fantastic year and we hope to see you on stage and in the audience!
