The Alamogordo Music Theatre has been providing musical entertainment to the Tularosa Basin for over 55 years now and in that time we have been providing scholarships to area students. AMT has contributed in excess of 60,000 dollars in scholarship monies over the last five decades. Our undergraduate scholarships are forms of aid that help students pay for their education. Check out our scholarship page! It gives a criteria and deadline of three named memorial scholarships that we award every year in honor of Martha Julian, Don Fox and Ted Lewis. We know that paying for college can be difficult, this is our way of helping and encouraging schooling in the arts!
This past weekend AMT provided entertainment for the Lodge in Cloudcroft with “A Murder at the Manor”. The murder mystery started on Friday night where guests were entertained by AMT members improvising parts of people from a wealthy British estate in the 1920’s. As the weekend forged ahead the dinner guests were not only engaged in one murder, but two! The weekend finally ended with a wonderful breakfast where guests shared who they thought was responsible for the murders. In the end only a few guessed the true culprit! Fun was had by all! Kudos go out to the wonderful staff of the Lodge, who made the weekend a delight for the company. Finally, a tremendous hand must go to Ronnie Brockett, our AMT liason and mystery director! Her dedication made the event a huge success!
Alright, it’s not technically a Flash Mob, but we are definitely having a flash back to 2004! The mobs rose up and sang “A New Argentina” from “Evita”. Featured in the photo above; Tanya Christensen, Jessica Peterson-Keller and Daniel Humm.
We are still having a great time going through old pictures! You should be seeing some older pics (we have to scan those) in the very near future! We have 55 years of photos to share!
The year is 1926. The place is the country estate of Sir Clive and Lady Clarissa, home to the Worthington-Jones family since the Seventeenth Century. The event is the evening meal to mark the start of a weekend retreat at the estate. The audience are all invited family friends and members of the aristocratic social circle of Sir Clive and Lady Clarissa. The weekend is going as planned until a series of events causes emotions to surge and murderous events arise.
Now is that not a start to a an intriguing weekend?!
