The much-anticipated production, Annie, originally scheduled for this Fall, has been postponed until a later date. Alamogordo Music Theatre had scheduled the popular Annie to continue its 2012 season trend to produce shows that introduce children to the theater.
According to the AMT Board of Directors, the change in scheduling was due to uncertainty in the availability of production staff for this musical.
AMT will announce the newly scheduled “Annie” via AMT’s website and Facebook page at a later date. “We apologize for having to make this change and hope our audiences will support the newly scheduled production,” said Cindy Holder, President.
For its new Fall production, AMT has scheduled a musical revue, “PUTTING IT TOGETHER”. AMT’s Jeremy Patton will direct.
Open auditions are scheduled for August 28 & 29, 6:30 pm, at the Flickinger Center, 1110 New York Avenue.
Productions dates are scheduled for October 26, 27 & 28, and November 2 and 3.
According to Musical Theater International’s website PUTTING IT TOGETHER is a musical revue celebrating Stephen Sondheim’s incomparable career in musical theatre. This production showcases the songs of Sondheim (SWEENEY TODD, FOLLIES, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM). It draws its title from a song in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE.
Featuring nearly 30 Sondheim tunes, PUTTING IT TOGETHER is performed by five people thrown together at a party in a Manhattan penthouse. The night takes on an interesting tone, exploring the many facets of relationships including the follies of dating, marriage and everything that happens in between.
